That’s completely valid. I’m more of the perspective, we need to re-examine who we collectively idolise, and whether we should be to begin with. Individual heroes is a different beast - many have controversial heroes and it’s about how we individually relate to their legacy.

Agree. I would happily get rid of 'collectively' anything. We all have different perspectives (which is a good thing) and can have some people we like in common and some not. Even Mother Theresa is controversial, so I don't think there is a single figure that isn't.

Yup, agreed. I have many controversial heroes, just based on how I relate to their ideas and legacy — Malcolm X. Some national heroes are controversial — in Pakistan, Genghis Khan is a hero. It’s definitely personal. After a while these people turn into myths and stories.

The one who's old enough would probably get bored with either. She wants to be a lawyer.

LooooL. That’s a great career move! — tones of money. I‘be failed to convince my little sister to become a lawyer; she’s 12. My persistent pushing toward law hasn’t been successful. Children have their own minds.

I personally like the quote "The Mind Is Not a Vessel That Needs Filling, But Wood That Needs Igniting". So I've been trying exactly that. Why law worked and other things didn't? Who knows. She's dreaming of Cambridge BTW so maybe one day you'll meet there. But it may all change.
