"Unfortunately this PhD funding is only open to UK students" I have written this to around 20-30 brilliant young people around the world in the last two months. I'm sure they will do great things. It is just a shame they can't do them in this country.

But don't you think that in Cambridge there are actually quite a lot of funding opportunities for internationals, so you can always recommend them to apply, as @Gates_Cambridge, the Trust's VC Scholarship and several college based scholarships are open for internationals?

As you might expect I am well aware of other funding opportunities and have thought of this. Deadlines for this funding have elapsed in many cases and it is extraordinarily competitive. On the other hand I have a specific funded project which is unfortunately restricted to UK.
