IMO the utility of citations metrics as indicators or scientific value and potential impact has been eroded.
Would citations vs time be a reliable metric to determine if a paper is high impact?

..we can get from 2-3 reviewers in the standard way of review. And second question: should academics involved in official (eg gov) consultancy be publishing work at times of crisis in light of that work being in essence the basis of official advice with huge uncertainty ?
