I don’t know about this. Depends how disconnected one is from the community. Interplay between class, wealth, etc. The oppressed can rise to become oppressors. Perpetuating the cycle. A wealthy POC is not an ally to the working-class POC. And may sides with the oppressor
The further up the social-ladder we climb, the more disconnected we become from marginalised communities. We still experience harm, but if we’re not careful we can perpetuate class oppression and be used by oppressors as token examples. I think Malcolm X hinted this in 1963pic.twitter.com/1mlVfZ0hGV
You’re over reading. I didn’t say people can’t perpetuate harm. You don’t need to be particularly powerful to do that either.
Ah fair point. I guess I did read into it. I saw it as a protection for wealthy POC from criticisms from working-class POC. I guess it was literally just pointing out that all marginalised people suffer oppression - at varying levels.
