I studied Math, but was bullied by academics & students - ending up in hospital. (Had medical document leaked across the university as a punishment for speaking out.) I graduated but it was obvious academia was a place that maintained outdated status-quo’s and hierarchy.
Still trying for a PhD; clearly passionate about science. But voices like mine are silenced. The institution is made of people who have benefited from stability, privilege and support; believing they’ve earned their place, perpetuating the myth. It’s not a meritocracy.
