There’s a thread on Mumsnet (I know, I know...) asking for help deciding if a family should stay in Edinburgh or relocate south cos they want to get their FOUR MONTH OLD to Oxbridge and worry Edinburgh’s £35,000+ per year school doesn’t get enough Oxbridge places. Tossers! 
I completed the Physics Tripos at Cambridge and grew up in a council estate in Tottenham, went to the local comprehensive, had undiagnosed disabilities, came from an domestically violent family and was the first to go to university. The arrogance of these parents is ridiculous.
Well done to you. That’s real achievement and brilliance. They are just trying to buy their way in (as many do, unfortunately)
The fact of the matter is none of those things should have been barriers to begin with, but they are. I was the exception, not the rule. The moment I arrived it was clear Oxbridge wasn’t a place used to people like me. Meritocracy is a joke people tell one another.
