My thoughts exactly. I’m pretty convinced it’s really just differences in government policy, how quickly countries reacted and how the public responded.
Until someone can actually demonstrate a specific difference in the binding proteins or whatnot that would account for this, it remains an unsubstantiated claim solely based on the fact that East Asian countries almost uniformly handled this better than most* other countries.
