I'm taking Master students every semester. But this year I've failed to retain them.
Out of 15 only 5 survived the semester… not proud of it…
Is MS in the US similar to MRes/MPhils or closer to taught MSci where students are assessed modularly based on exams. A big issue with our education system is that it optimises for grades rather than challenge. Students are incentivised modules they can maximise their marks in.

The students I get are those who are interested in doing some research. They can do that for credit or not. They get experience and individual tutoring in exchange for progress on a given project. Without progress there's no experience and the whole thing breaks down.
