Not that this is the reason, but bronze-diamond are materials, while Master is a term for people. [+]

It's Bronze league, silver league, gold, platinum, diamond league while master is "Master's league". There's no Silver's League. I also noted you can say "I'm master" or "I'm a master" but you can only say "I'm diamond" and not "I'm a diamond" (if "player" is not implied) [+]
