He is physically removed from the battlefield, why should he benefit from anything on the battlefield? That would be like last rites working on Alex during Cleansing Flame (which it doesn't).
The better comparison would be Fallen Sword imo, I wonder if that is affected by the belts though.

Ya, she was just the first hero-removed-from-battlefield thing I thought of. Still seems like behavior that shouldn't be intended, imo.
