That and little stuff like having a stock of K'Bab and remembering to use it, checking for the events that can give you buffs (like the Neglected Guild Bank in SW), and checking the potion color at the start for a chance at extra sanity (I wrote out a cheat-sheet for the potions)
I started using pots but then one ran out during a boss fight and cost me the run so I've generally avoided them
