The big thing for me was figuring out where my weak points are and optimizing for them (in terms of routing and resource management). So I redid my route to try and have Bloodlust/Earth Ele line up with my two toughest bosses (Vez'okk/Rexxar in Org, Unbound Chaos/Alleria in SW).

That and little stuff like having a stock of K'Bab and remembering to use it, checking for the events that can give you buffs (like the Neglected Guild Bank in SW), and checking the potion color at the start for a chance at extra sanity (I wrote out a cheat-sheet for the potions)
