This take must inevitably be floating around already, but, GOT is what happens when you don't know how to scope properly at the start of a project. It's not the fault of the people trying to pull it together now.

That thread on planner vs improviser writers was informative. I am an inscrutable planner and it's legitimately hard to put myself into GRRM's mind. You just...didn't care or think about how long it would take or what it would look like to finish? How does someone live like that!

This is disturbingly accurate. But I mean, do you want time to flesh out both brothers and do them justice? JUST SAYING, book 5 and the lore would be overall better for it! :P
