Sounds like waveclear is ultimately what pushes him into the solo vs other “main tanks”? You still haven’t really told me why he can’t be a main tank though other than delay on CC which all main tanks have.

I find visuals help: https://youtu.be/5WOx9mIJysw This is basically why the wind up is such an issue. Compare to the other tanks I use as an example the counterplay to Blaze's engage is a huge window by comparison though it is limited to specific heroes, but draft dependency is rough

Really cool video, one thing to consider though is that not every Main Tank is always meant to hard engage, sometimes they are meant to protect against heavy dive, like an Arthas or a Johanna by being that rock in the front line that absorbs damage and disrupts assailants.

Arthas and Garrosh do that by hard countering melee heroes (i basically die if I'm melee with one of those heroes as kerrigan and they don't die in cc for example) , Johanna has a lot of disruption on short cd + still a reliable engage post 10How do you think blaze fits this role

That was just a general statement on the definition of a MT, not specifically Blaze. I'm just trying to see if the narrative that not every MT fulfills exactly the same criteria is valid. I think Blaze doesn't have the best engage but he has enough tools to compensate for it.

I mean the best example is Tyrael. He doesn't have a reliable engage himself he enables the entire rest of his team to engage for themselves, essentially. THAT is weird. But Blaze is falling into the very typical mold here except for the reliable part against top tier players.

So would you say that nerfing the slow back down but making his E windup faster would make him a main tank?

I would. In fact I said this on stream during his last round of buffs/changes. Remove or reduce the E windup and Blaze is a very typical tank. Like a slightly different ETC.

To play even more devil's advocate though, earlier in the thread I was told he can't MT because he has no escape if his engage fails which will still be true. Everyone seems to have a slightly different idea on what pushes him to be a Main Tank.

The point of reducing the windup would be to somewhat put the burden on the blaze player if his engage fails so it would still be one his weakness but he could potentially play more around it.

Mayhaps. I gotta run so thanks for the discussion, always good to get different perspectives!
