No one’s process is more ‘authentic’ than another’s. Some writers pause their reading while finishing their own work. Some read nonstop through it. Some amp up the reading. Literally whatever works for you!

If I'm in the middle of something, I prefer to read books in other genres. Or books in the same genre on very different subjects and w great prose rhythm.
