I had friends who were super supportive of my work (obviously and I of theirs) and it was all this loop of beautiful hype energy...until I resumed/started making work in their area. Then it was crickets from them.

When you share your work with someone and expect the support you thought was an integral part of the friendship, only to get back sudden indifference? Chai. E dey pain.

I’m so grateful for the friends who did the exact opposite when I moved toward them—who welcomed me excitedly, taught me how to paint, partnered with me in TV, shared resources and skills, talked and thought with me as I developed my practices
