Wait, I have to stop laughing first.

Let me tell you a story. Some platform once called CNA my mentor, which she really wasn't. From her workshop, Binya was the one who read my manuscript, who sat with me for hours, who called and gave me career advice, who introduced me to Wylie, and that was how my career began.

He turned out to be harmful in his own directions, so I severed ties with him long before he passed, but I still pay forward what he did for me. Anyway, they called her my mentor and I basically shrugged, but a friend of mine was like ah, couldn't be me allowing that narrative.

Her view was that she wouldn't want ppl to think that CNA had 'made' her when it wasn't the case. I was like, none of us get here alone, first of all. But more importantly, my work speaks for itself. There was no way anyone was going to read FW and think someone else made me.

I have nothing and no one to be jealous of. My work is fucking brilliant, to an annoying extent. Annoying for people who resent that I release back to back fire. Annoying for me because if I talked my actual shit, y'all would lash out at the 'arrogance'.

So me I just keep making the work, and Oga God has demanded that I divest from the validation systems I used to care so much about. Writing these books and using my platforms to point out true things is all spirit first work for me. Everything else is just...human.

CNA and her journey are not actually my concern. The people she is harming are the ones I care about, and it matters to me to show that hey, someone is punching down at you and we're not going to look away or pretend it's not happening because she's a famous 'feminist'.
