I'm on an incredibly tight book deadline that is completely my own doing but I very much want to make it because the work holds me like nothing else can, clears everything else away, and is where I can do the most good, what I was embodied to do.
It's so difficult no matter how many times I do it, and talking about the process helps me execute. It's totally okay if you need to mute me. I pretty much just use this space for myself & my work these days.
So, we move. 10k words on #Book8.
After weeks off and on, I got to 27k words today. It's YA so I'm gunning for 40k and praying that the story cooperates, because if it tries to be longer, we will genuinely fight and I will whup its whole entire ass. NO ONE HAS THE TIME. #Book8 #BeastMode
The fact that I set myself up to be launching a book, doing line edits on another book, and writing yet another book on deadline ALL AT THE SAME TIME?! I’m taking such a thorough vacation after this.

I am STOKED for whatever this new work is (and am HERE for these updates) because Freshwater was incredible, PET changed how I thought about the possibilities of our futures, The Death of Vivek Oji... well, I’m still working on words for how deeply that one got me.
Seriously, We do not deserve all the brilliantly beautiful creations you are giving us, but they are such inspiring snapshots of all the varying ways to be human so THANK YOU and KEEP KICKING THIS DEADLINE’S @rse
