Main reasons are a) I only read for pleasure b) I almost exclusively read speculative fiction/speculative YA by nonwhite authors, which means I lowkey don't read in the primary genre I publish in

Full disclosure, I usually don't blurb b/c I'm actively writing 2-3 books all the time, but I make one exception a year for debut authors who I know well & believe in deeply.
Last year, it was @basseyworld's NYT bestselling collection I'M TELLING THE TRUTH BUT I'M LYING

But again, I have 2-3 books in progress at a time, out of a list of 12, and I really really like writing them, so pausing that is...not really going to happen.

I know blurbs are one of the ways authors pay it forward and I deeply appreciate everyone who blurbs my work! I'm also grateful for a community that understands how support comes in many forms, because then I get to pay it forward in other ways.

Adding both Of Colour and I’m Telling the Truth, but I’m Lying to the top of my to-buy list for when I have some wiggle-room in my budget! Thanks for boosting them because they’re both books I otherwise might not have heard about and I’m after more essays to read this year!
