My advice to newly out trans people is don't try to do gender metaphysics. You're not going to be the one to solve it, and your sense of security in your identity shouldn't depending on some particular view of what gender "really is."

Metaphysics is the study of existance. Metaphysical philosophy is therefore centred around what that might mean, relying on the distinctions between knowing, and being, (and what is known of being) Thus gender metaphysics is about what gender is, and also what is being a gender?
