The electoral college isn’t exactly a simile for democracy (e.g.: Hillary won the popular vote and lost the election), but it’s got elements of democracy in it. People might want a better form of democracy before responding to the Axios poll, you know, to define democracy first.

It doesn't work like that, you cannot use a different measurement than the official to prove Hillary should have won. The entire campaign is built around the electoral college. If the USA used a proportional system, the campaign would centre around that, affecting the outcome 1/2
-
However you feel about the outcome, there is ample proof the USA is a democracy (it may not be perfect, or functioning perfectly), there are simply multiple ways to organise a democracy. 2/2
-
I use the dictionary to gather my definitions, so with all due respect, read again. I’m not expressing how I feel about the election outcome but the ironic use of the word Democracy in that context. The electoral college is a mediocre medium for democracy, regardless of outcome.

Nothing wrong at all with democracy, except of course that the USA doesn't have it....

I have lost faith in Republicans upholding the constution, separation of powers, and protecting us from foreign influence.

Likely because the 37% do not actively vote, voter apathy is a huge part of the problem

I’ll have zero faith in democracy if dems don’t take the house tomorrow. It will mean, to me, the experiment has failed. I’m not sure what more could have been done. All the money spent?

Isn’t Axios the ones that let Trump ramble on about changing the 14th amendment and didn’t challenge him? Nah, I’ll wait for another source although I agree we don’t have a democracy. We have an Aristocracy and a Plutocracy with a Corpratocracy mixed in this makeshift CR...Hotep.

Looking at the crosstabs, I'd say what SurveyMonkey measured is the satisfaction with the outcome of the election. The dissatisfaction with democracy is far stronger amongst opponents of Trump.

Emotional Republicans these days with no scientific basis. Hormones explains much of their policies! People who vote Democrat have higher dopamine levels = scientific hormonal translation for wanting & engaging in change, aka engaging with democracy!https://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2018/11/04/2018-elections-liberal-conservative-voting-brains-midterms-222186 …
