EXCLUSIVE: President Trump plans to sign an executive order that would remove the right to citizenship for babies of non-citizens and unauthorized immigrants born on U.S. soil.https://www.axios.com/trump-birthright-citizenship-executive-order-0cf4285a-16c6-48f2-a933-bd71fd72ea82.html?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=twsocialshare&utm_campaign=organic …

In an exclusive interview for "Axios on HBO," Trump said that he has run the idea of ending birthright citizenship by his counsel. "It was always told to me that you needed a constitutional amendment. Guess what? You don't," Trump said.https://www.axios.com/trump-birthright-citizenship-executive-order-0cf4285a-16c6-48f2-a933-bd71fd72ea82.html?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=twsocialshare&utm_campaign=organic …

Ending birthright citizenship would be the most dramatic move yet in Trump's hardline immigration campaign, this time targeting "anchor babies" and "chain migration." And it will undoubtedly set off another stand-off with the courts.https://www.axios.com/trump-birthright-citizenship-executive-order-0cf4285a-16c6-48f2-a933-bd71fd72ea82.html?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=organic …

Few immigration and constitutional scholars believe it is within the president's power to change birthright citizenship. But some conservatives argue that the 14th Amendment has been misapplied for decades.https://www.axios.com/trump-birthright-citizenship-executive-order-0cf4285a-16c6-48f2-a933-bd71fd72ea82.html?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=organic …

So the 14th amendment has been misapplied according to some conservatives. The same people who have no problem with the 2nd amendment being misapplied to support a billion $ gun industry that values its pile of money more than taking prudent steps to deter mass murders. Got it.

Would this take citizenship from all anchor babies across the board? Like people who are 30 years old. Like me?!

If he can undo the 14th amendment via executive order, then the precedent is set for another president to undo other amendments via executive order, like, oh, say, the 2nd amendment...

I don't think illegal immigration from Mexico and Central America was a problem in 1868. I think the original intent of the Fourteenth Amendment was to ensure that former slaves were not denied citizenship.

Yes, or a Scottish maid, or the son of a discarded German too cowardly to fight the French under the leadership of Bismark. That's why Trump attacks others, he feels insecure about his own legitimacy as an American.
