Previous impeachments were directly tied to an unambiguous crime (burglary & perjury). What Trump is accused of is abuse of political power which is a subjective standard that reasonable people can believe does not rise to the level of impeachment. 1/

Ds devalued it in their fevered TDS. It's now an election tactic and they lowered the bar. I would expect to see more frequent impeachments from here on.

Congressman Hurd nailed it today. Have you given it a listen?

First, there are no more Republicans with integrity so I don’t believe it would’ve been bipartisan. Second, a censure has about as much value as a UNGA resolution. What would even be the point?

Your first statement is a bad faith argument and really makes it pointless to respond with any meaningful response.

Totally. If I could go back in time to the Clinton impeachment, I would counsel Starr and Gingrich to censure, not impeach, despite the merits of the case. Following Trumps impeachment, the political well will be poisoned for another generation.
-
This is plausible. I think some of this is payback for Clinton. The one main difference is Clinton committed a clear crime, there was no ambiguity.
