It's almost as though the people who have been trying to gin-up outrage over this are operating in bad faith to punish folks for holding actual bad actors to account 🤔

More likely: Sullivan saw the tweet, remembers it, and has been waiting 4 years for an excuse to get back at her for it.

My thoughts exactly. Sullivan historically has vanity-searched himself on Twitter and he remembers slights for years. He knew exactly in what context that tweet was.

This one tweet has done more to bring me to her side than anything else. I was all "How is it satire???" Yet all of the article say it's not racism bc you can't be racist against white people, and other arguments which don't hold water. But THIS is fucking airtight. Thank you.

+1. Had a similar reaction: a "woah" moment. Parody and sarcasm doesn't hold up well in scenarios like this on Twitter, where a tweet in that vein can be presented - entirely isolated from its original context - as representing the tweeter's actual viewpoint.

Reminds of this incident in South Korea, except there it was humorless government authorities, rather than members of a Twitter mob, who failed to grok the easily-understood parody context of someone's tweets. And the prospective punishment? Far worse.https://www.nytimes.com/2012/02/03/world/asia/south-korean-indicted-for-twitter-posts-from-north-korea.html …

DJT was a real gift to Sullivan's civic minded conservativism spiel. Many of his predictions about the GOP/the country were proven correct with Trump's nomination/election, so he decided to throw away that cred and stump for race science and how college lefties are annoying.

From an incredibly creepy twitter thread someone compiled about Jeong that interprets tweets like "white feminists can be tiring" as anti-white racism. These guys have decided that any critique of whiteness constitutes racism against whites.
