On both occasions, I noticed myself looking for exits, escape routes, hiding places in the event of an active shooter or a terrorist attack.

I’ve never had any qualms about being in crowded public places. But that’s slowly changed in the last few years.

I don’t want to live in a society where gun violence and mass shootings are the norm. I assume most of you would say the same.
