There's a nifty trick going on here. The little hedgerow has been cunningly squeezed in. Subject to it being kept reasonably low (for visibility) it helps make the ride feel a bit safer, catches road spray on wet days and it just looks nice.

At the Beyond the car: future mobility in Bath conference hosted by & I think the answer is "Adam Reynolds" 😂🤣 Joking aside, it's an exceptionally good event and I think there are some really profound questions that the Uni can help the council answer.

If all two way roads were made one way and then the other lane could be a two way cycle route. There is room and doesn't have to always be a big expense in the great scheme of things, we just need to political will.

Never do this on a cycle. Most cycles travel much faster than cars in cities. ;)

“The large number of road accidents is truly a kind of sacrifice to the godhead of mobility to keep the wheels of traffic moving. It is a sacrifice made unconsciously, but one for which society is apparently prepared to pay the price nonetheless.” ~Virilio (1998) Pic by

Wait until this lot find out what cars and drivers have been doing! (this shit could not be more blatant scremongering from auto lobby if it was plastered with "sponsored by Ford")

For perspective, since China first reported it Dec. 30, the coronavirus has killed 305 people worldwide while car crashes have killed about 125,000.

It's a bit mad that four kids were killed in Parramatta last night, but because it was a pissed up motorist rather than a paedo or a gunman or someone waving an ISIS flag it's relegated to the "sad like puppies with cancer" section of the news rather than the "BE FURIOUS" section

The question we have to ask is why people that choose to cycle have to put up with this type of surface? Many many more people could get out of cars if they knew they would not be covered in mud. Council officers might even take it seriousy as a 4 season mass transit solution.

Lately I've been moving away from the idea of redesigning streets as the solution for safety and mobility. Many of our streets are designed just fine. The only problem is that there are too many cars on them.
