2/ Since there's a genetic component, my wife and I eventually got screened (with no symptoms, this wasn't a high priority). Today mine came back positive, though again, with no complications so far, barring a minor regurgitation of blood the wrong way across the valve.

BTW a bicupsid aortic valve is called a "fish mouth valve" because it looks like this when it's open. (A normal valve would split three ways).pic.twitter.com/JXI3mNVWjO
