@jamesreggio IIRC, that shows you where on the train to go. The trick here is to map that all the way back to the departing station. -
NYC subway platforms may have good enough labeling of train car positions to make those two things equivalent, though?

ah. Yeah, you can interpolate between the S sign where the first car stops and the hashed sign that the mid-train conductor sees.

Also, it's reasonable to assume that most trips originate from the same station or two, so you'd get an idea of where Car X is.

But it's still a crafty project. Especially for those of us who are _that_ nerdy about transit :)
