@avibryant@Eigenvariable@patrickc I'll take the other side of "the age of dynamic languages is over" bet any day of the week. -
@mattknox@avibryant@patrickc Sadly, I agree with you. It's better read as "gee, I wish the age of dynamic languages would start waning." -
@Eigenvariable@avibryant@patrickc I get that you like types, but surely you want more people programming? -
@mattknox@Eigenvariable@avibryant@patrickc It's not clear to me that static typing is necessarily harder for beginners. -
@noahlt@Eigenvariable Maybe, but js, vb, and excel seem to argue otherwise. I like both, but teaching beginners types is hard. -
@mattknox@noahlt@Eigenvariable I think we'll get better at types, and they will tip over to being better for beginners. -
@mattknox@noahlt@Eigenvariable if you squint, Dabble DB was a (very limited) typed spreadsheet, and I think that was helpful.

@avibryant@patrickc True, but is usually possible to structure your own code in such a way that error states become unrepresentable. -
@avibryant@patrickc The problem is that the libraries you depend on may not have done so. Still, at least it's possible; not so with D-PLs.
