Beautiful utopian vision of the impact of the self driving car: http://nzzl.me/1Jqo70w  - the car is dead, long live the car.

@posco we should have a betting pool on the time frame of the milestones along the way.

@nars the take home message is that monied interests, such as uber, will get this going. As you know, money is all that counts in the US.

@posco @nars I'd be surprised if Uber is the winner through this transition. Building a marketplace is really different than a drone army

@drbridgewater @nars I agree. Really I just loved someone thinking through the impact of this, and arguing it is huge.

@drbridgewater @nars related @avibryant pointed out https://www.car2go.com/en/austin/  to me. Kind of uber for zipcar.

.@posco parking a car2go anywhere and just walking away is a transformative experience. zipcar to car2go is a bigger delta than taxi to uber

@avibryant @posco What is optimal use case of Car2Go. It seems to me I’d rather use either Uber or Zipcar.

.@arasin @posco uber constrains you on the time axis (the car arrives at an uncertain time in the future, and won’t wait long once it does)

. @arasin @posco zipcar constrains you in space (whatever you do you have to return the car to the starting point). car2go does neither.

@arasin @posco yes; where I live, zipcar is the only one of the three models that would work. But in cities car2go is amazing.

@arasin @posco it requires making a deal with the city to solve that. Which is why it doesn’t exist in SF (and maybe couldn’t in Manhattan).

@avibryant @posco It does exist in DC, but I just haven’t really found a time when it seems an ideal solution.
