My wife is averse to any non-incandescent lighting. So while she's away, I switched the bulbs in some fixtures to LED to see if she notices.

@avibryant@indec I wanted to know what it's like to live on the surface of the sun. So I replaced the lights in my kitchen with LEDs. -
@aconbere@avibryant These are 60W-equivalent Crees. Seem decent, as far as I can tell, but soft white in a fixture takes the stark away. -
@indec@avibryant mine are 40W equivalent LEDs replacing 60W equivalent CFLs and it is soooo much more light. -
@aconbere I was actually braced for dimmer bulbs - my second-hand experience of LED bulbs has been below-par, but these are bright. -
@indec and to be clear, I'm thrilled, its nice to have that light when I want it. But must get a dimmer installed. -
@aconbere Yeah. If these work out OK I may replace the basement lights. Those have dimmers already....
