High on my list of dangerously confusing UI choices: displaying three digits after the decimal point for a dollar amount. /cc @twilio
@drewconway true, though the price of a gallon of gas (unlike an account balance) has a very stable order of magnitude.

@avibryant interesting, it's not clear to me why that would matter for decimal precession? -
@drewconway my point is that if you get an email saying "your balance is $35.223", is that enough to buy a meal or a car? -
@avibryant@drewconway oooo is all this confusion because US does $32,893.55 and other places do $32.893,55 ? -
@ansate@drewconway more that, at a glance, hard to tell 35.123 from 35,123 - but there's a 1000x difference. -
@avibryant@drewconway yeah, the context of standard number of digits after whatever separator makes it much easier -
@ansate@avibryant it's a silly choice because currencies are quantified as discrete units.

@avibryant@drewconway also gas stations tend to use fractions or superscript to display the third digit after the decimal pointThanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

@avibryant I bring up gas stations because from a UI perspective it makes no difference. People ignore the taking fractions, always haveThanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
