A neat, tractable, and maybe useful trick would be to do reverse-mode autodifferentiation on a constrained but practical subset of JVM bytecode. Then you'd get gradients for any of Java/Scala/Clojure numeric code.

Ooh, a good thing to start with that’s probably already constrained in the right way would be AD of arbitrary WASM functions. Worried I’ve just sniped myself.
