Idea: 1. Break video into ~1s chunks 2. Take perceptual hash of each chunk 3. For each chunk, concatenate the current hash with previous 5-10 4. Sign hashes with a key registered to news agency (maybe CA?) 5. Embed this signature as side-band data in the video stream

• Transcoding the video could preserve the hash. • Embedding could preserve the hash with a viewport rectangle • Playing back the video would take a perceptual hash of the video to be rendered, display an authentication linked to the registrant as a watermark

Altering the video like this would change the perceptual hash and turn the checkmark into a very scary warning.
