She could wear mine with a belt, I guess.

Do you think your weight gain is a consequence of higher calories consumption or lower energy expenditure (or something else?) If you had to guess, what do you attribute it to?
-
I'm really curious about this myself. I think it's plausible that I'm consuming more calories. I think if my energy expenditure is lower it's on a micro scale (less fidgeting? less... waste heat?) not from any gross muscle movements, and I wouldn't expect that to be so noticeable
-
Do you exercise regularly? Have you ever learned to train yourself to reliably gain muscle/lose fat? (No judgement/moral axes here, I’m very curious how this works both for general and obvious personal reasons).
-
Yes to regular aerobic exercise, no to training myself to gain muscle.

Last q. How do you feel about philosophical qs of whether the medication makes you less you, or that we’ve constructed a society that reqs so many ppl to be on psychiatric medication to function? In your experience, are these even worth thinking about in personal context?
-
Totally worth thinking about. In my case the thing I was trying to fix was a mental pattern that I was consciously self-aware was a "bug", so it's easy for me to view being on lexapro as a "better me" rather than "not me".
-
Society-wise, I'm not convinced psychiatric medication is any different here than heart medication or cancer medication. I believe people have always struggled with this; the main thing that's changed is our ability to medicate it.
-
1/4 US women are on antidepressants (!!). It’s difficult to believe that ppl have always struggled with depression/anxiety at this rate (it’s plausible but seems unlikely). Same with diabetes btw, (that one is def a new problem). Thanks for your answers!
