Every time I do contract review I have a brief startup fantasy of disrupting the legal world with git. Heck, even SVN would be better. Mindblowing that the state of the art is emailing diffs around and renaming files

When I looked into this several years ago, seemed like .docx kept separate version metadata for every character in the document, which means you can reconstruct a coherent history from a pile of renamed docs (vs needing to do your own instrumentation or metadata).

I've always envisioned a TripIt style UI where you just "cc: http://docxhub.com " as you email the latest contract draft over, and it adds that to its nicely browseable/reviewable index.
