In terms of what you can make? I think no cons (very accurate, thicker cut depth, no burn residue on edges) In terms of operations: Very loud, needs (loud) dust collection, need various end mills, can have slow cutting time, more software to learn / toolpath planning is harder
On what you can make, betting you're not gonna beat the laser cutter for kerf width. Not gonna work with paper or vinyl or more fragile materials
Although the software is open source so I'm sure hacking it to run a drag knife has been done
people do hack both lasers + drag knives onto these. I'm scared of the lasers, so I haven't tried that. Yes, kerf width you can't get much smaller than 1/16th inch, and you can't cut any shapes with sharp internal corners (you can't cut a square hole w/ a round bit)
Con: it probably ends up with you writing a grbl derivative in forth
I'm sure you're right but that's more a con of me than of the CNC.
Way more dangerous, generally trickier software interface, more expensive consumables, different set of usable materials
Work setup is harder too (need to clamp down work pieces or disaster)
