If you want one milled out of something more outdoorsy lmk. I have a shapeoko I'm looking to bring back to life

What would you use? I’d love to be self-sufficient in producing it with the glowforge; I feel like ideally 1/4” teak or oak or mahogany if I could source that in 12” widths.
-
Acrylic would be easy but I’m loving the way it looks in wood too much.
-
Copper would probably be pretty nice
-
have you tried any metals w/ your shapeoko? I've only done wood so far.
-
I've done nothing :/ It's a pass-on gift, and it came in a fairly beefy enclosure I haven't had time to wrangle into something usable
-
I made the worst enclosure for mine. I need to make a new one that's lighter. The shapeoko3 is really great though, it's a lot of fun.https://medium.com/thiswillwoodwork/a-home-for-mildred-538a4fe15c1a …

The pros of this vs glowforge seem obvious. Any cons?

No wonder you needed more boards!
-
Yep. That one took 4 full boards just for the final print.

Do you have any pictures of the base? Sorry to be greedy. I find sundials very interesting.

Thank you so much. It's beautiful. The John Donne is a nice touch.
