Coming from Formik, this form library looks super slick. And make no mistake, Formik was slick. The API is that good. 🤩

You can use dokku on a VPS for multiple projects. Easy to setup auto deploy on github push. You can run 6-7 low volume projects this way on a single $3/m server.

Process, async communications and results-driven are all the more important at remote-only companies. But IMHO, the best policy is to seek talent-skill-job-impact fit. Then your best people won’t and can’t stop, because it’s not just work, it’s fun working! 💪🏼

Combine that with 👉🏻 Figma for designing and prototyping 👉🏻 Porkbun for $6 .com domains And you have a startup running with total costs of $6/yr.

Mute all these keywords to remove "suggested", "you might like", "X & 2 others follow" and other irritating tweets.

I notice that ORMs are GOOD in traditionally backend languages like Python, Ruby, PHP. So if you are working with them, consider an ORM/high-level-library if okay with giving away some performance and control.

Using sequelize ORM in JavaScript only to realize it's not as good as its Python counterparts, SQLAlchemy and Alembic. Will be switching to using a low-level database driver (npm/pg, npm/sqlite3) and writing migrations manually.

Next has static export that's just like Gatsby but I don't think it will offer the same level of performance as a Gatsby site. Why? Because the primary selling point of Gatsby is performance.⚡️ Whereas for Next, it's SSR. So, Gatsby, it is.

After a few days, I realize it would have been better to use GatsbyJS for this project. Next is great if you have a truly dynamic website with multiple actors and high update frequency. Think social network, CRM. For websites with low update freq, eg blogs, Gatsby rules. 🚀

When using TailwindCSS, don't forget to set up PurgeCSS and CSSNano. Can save upto 99% on the bundled CSS size for most projects. From 800KB+ to <8KB

I was thinking the same today. 8GB is barely able to keep up with my workload. I fear if it will be the same with 16GB in 2 years. Best to future proof yourself by spending an extra $400 today.

If you are looking for a VPS, check out Hetzner. It's base variant comes at under $3/m for 2GB RAM / 20GB SSD / 2TB transfer. Enough for most side-projects and "startups". 😃
