How much do you set aside per investment--what's the ratio?
-
we have built very sophisticated reserves models, but generally speaking we reserve 2-10x the initial investment

How does this work in terms of fund returns (investment returning the fund size) given that returns for subsequent rounds likely aren't as high? And how does that work with a traditional v opportunity fund. Are there conflicts if you invest in a co out of multiple funds?
-
the multiples are higher on the early investments but we can confidently invest more in the later rounds so to some extent everything balances out. we generally book an investment in one core fund and one opportunity fund

Would you fault the firm that takes the long buy approach for a lack of focus? What about the opportunity cost of deploying the capital in a seed round of a firm vs the series C of the invested firm?
-
No

How often is this pro-rata on subsequent investments vs. super pro rata (increasing ownership)? In the latter, how do you get additional allocation in the oversubscribed deals where the $1B funds want every share?
-
most pro-rata, occasionally super pro-rata (mentioned in number 3 in my post)
