Right to switch jobs. Freedom in labour contracts. Eligible for taxation. :) And suddenly human employees are not that unattractive anymore

Is a robot truly capable of consent?

And that's the slippery slope of using laws where morals and common sense should intervene first.

Culturally shifting our concept of consciousness is the cornerstone to rethinking AI rights.

I think asking ‘should we legislate rights for robots?’ approaches the problem backwards
-
A better question is ‘why the fuck was a robot with a rape setting built in the first place?’
-
The robot represents a symptom of the broader problems of rape culture, sexism, and systematic sexual violence
-
AI/robot rights is interesting but tangentially related to the real problem. We need to address rape culture bf we talk abt the other stuff

it's barely a crime to rape women, you think we're gonna offer robots that luxury?
-
What do you mean it's barely a crime to rape women? Last time I checked rape is a serious offence.
-
it should be. a surprisingly large number of rapists don't face any consequences at all.
-
Yeah because they probably weren't caught I have never heard a tale where a rapist was caught and not punished for it.
-
I have a few friends who claim the guy was arrested and then let go because of "lack of evidence".

Rather than laws or rights, we can focus on helping all individuals - animal, vegetable, mineral - get what they need to function well.

can a non-sentient item object to an activity? or is this assuming some level of sentience, didn't Asimov write about this a LOT.

I just don't see how over a long period of time we can separate how we treat robots to humans anyway. That's scary

Morality & ethics should be one of the primary considerations when developing sentient life & AI. Unfortunately, it's often an afterthought.
