What were some top answers IYHO?
the future is when the next big event that changes my life happens; the future is when something important becomes different
Past: before and up to most recent 'big event' that affected me. Now: today Future: near, today+ / far: next big event / distant: 5 years+
this is my favorite reply so far I think! I totally get it.
Are you sitting in an old school PowerPoint presentation given by an academic and wondering how much longer until you can escape?
If asked to answer in terms of time, I'd say 5-10 years if not more.
But generally think of 'future' in terms of difference from the present, i.e. the future will be when things are different
yes!! that's fascinating. I think that's how I think of it too.
...... depends if we are talking about Mars or the dishes in the sink.
Interesting! Elaborate? When is future of mars vs dishes in sink?
The dishes in the sink are an immediate tangible future, the future of Mars is fuzzy, farther off, and less personal.
As an archaeologist, I often ask the same question in terms of how we define "the past" and "history"
ah, interesting! so when do most people think the past starts?? or history? 10 years ago?
Differing opinions, it is possible to study archaeology of contemporary world + immaterial culture such as videogames + social media
So I suppose even a tweet from a few minutes ago could be considered as part of the past and recorded history!
Future is when I realize how much time I wasted in the present
Pretty sure I'm living in the future, so the present must have been yesterday.
