Based on the college as a business trend, I imagine Ss would be prejudged on speculative ROI, not on fulfilling Ss' edu goals.

Burden shifts to colleges to identify right students, kind of like identifying MacArthur geniuses or IFTF Fellows :-).
a bureaucratic nightmare seeing as number of students for each college to chase would be huge...

information products, you select the one that you need to learn for a specific purpose, colleges become obsolete
so you would have a real idea of how you fit, what career choices would be likely, how the school would benefit.
they'd give you a prospectus, stats about their alumni and student parents. Not everyone wants to get crapped on by rich kids.
some only want to crap with rich kids & not everyone wants to go into lifetime debt for an education.
most importantly not everyone knows what they want to do coming out of HS. They want options.
