Legal question. If there is a photo of you in Getty images (taken by a random magazine photographer and sold to Getty), can someone license-
-
-
No and it violates Getty's image policy, their images are only commercially available with signed release https://contributors.gettyimages.com/article_public.aspx?article_id=1834 …
-
-releases “if you are in this event, you may be photographed and we can use the picture in any way.”
-
it was taken in a hotel room not at a private event.

They don't need permission if it was taken at a public event, but you still can ask them to remove it post factum.
-
it was not taken at a public event. it was taken at a photo shoot in a hotel room
-
Then, well, you can sue them, and their book might be pulped, but it will be a struggle.

No they can't. You own your own image for commercial purposes. It happened to me. Then I was ok with it. https://identitywoman.net/the-unexpected-posterchild-of-hollyhock/ …

did you sign a model release form for the photographer? If so they may have the right to sell as stock, if not, they're at fault

I believe they need your consent. Have you contacted Getty?
-

Were you in public when the photo was taken? They often don't need a model release in those cases. I'm searching for link
