@avantgame @xLoganAlexHueyx Expand horizons. Play very different games. Not even just digital, but board games, RPGs, maybe even sports.

@avantgame@xLoganAlexHueyx Have your own project you're working on while you search for opportunities. You'll learn a lot while u wait. -
@avantgame@xLoganAlexHueyx I subscribe to the belief "just DO something", if you can't find the job you want making a game, just work on... -
@avantgame@xLoganAlexHueyx one yourself anyway, teach yourself, don't let anything stop you! You'll be happier and learn so much from it.

@avantgame excel at something that's hard to do. Make yourself desirable so you're not seen as a commodity. Same as every other industry -
@avantgame which is about as helpful as saying "eat right and exercise" -
@avantgame How about: 1) Find people on LinkedIn doing the kinds of jobs you find interesting who are connected to you in some way.

@avantgame First you should figure out what you'd like to focus mainly on, art, design or programming... -
@avantgame I recommend doing some intro books in each to see if one of them is super fun... -
@avantgame Then if you'd like to get into design or programming, i recommend a game programming bacholer's degree... -
@avantgame Most triple-a companies won't interview you if you don't have a bachelor's in something... -
@avantgame But small indie game companies would prefer that you know how to make games and can "wear multiple hats"... -
@avantgame It also helps to go to your community's local game dev events (ex: boston has "boston indies" and "boston unity group") -
@avantgame Also be sure to dedicate time every week (even if you're in highschool) to making games (not playing them). -
@avantgame And don't forget to know where these game companies are. http://www.gamedevmap.com/
