So I don't know, I think we should acknowledge that journalists often do this and get away with it b/c interview subjects don't complain

@avantgame@niltiac are they taking from other interviews? Making up completely? Or shortening quote? Totally different things... -
@heatherAtaylor If you read through@avantgame's stream, she's saying they regularly put things into different words, still with quote marks -
@niltiac@avantgame that's not right either but not as bad as making up entire quote or stealing from another interview...IMHO -
@heatherAtaylor@avantgame It's close to making it up. I think it's worse than stealing an accurate quote from another interview. -
@niltiac@avantgame no way. Not good to change anything but take someone else's quote esp without attribution?? That's plagiarism! Bad! -
@heatherAtaylor@avantgame I didn't say someone else's quote, and I didn't say without attribution either.

@avantgame This conversation is making me want to abandon all print news forever. :\ -
@raygungirl@avantgame What does the print medium have to do with it, Jess? -
@niltiac Print media has a lot to do with it; the quote is completely at the mercy of the writer. A/V would keep *something* intact, I think -
@raygungirl Oh yes, I thought you meant as opposed to online media. With A/V a lot depends on the program and format.
