We need a new word to describe the phenomenon of feeling depressed and trapped inside by toxic air quality due to fires. Like cabin fever, but not a fever... a malaise. Smokesick? Whatever it is, I have it. Portland, Seattle, Vancouver, San Francisco... how do we cope?

has anyone seen a thoughtful op-ed or first person essay about the mental toll of living through these new extreme fire seasons? please share links. we need to generate some resources to support some semblance of well-being through this, especially if it's the new normal

It’s been a little better in South Bay than in SF, but still pretty awful to be outside in the afternoons. Can’t see the mountains, feel like I’m coming down with a cold all the time.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

I’m pretty sure if it had lasted any longer in Seattle I’d have needed to see a doctor. Inhalers haven’t been cutting it. It’s been brutal. Even my cats have been looking depressed by all the smoke.

Don't want to sound funny..you know those hand held spray mist fans? Maybe let each kid have one for a while..I guess the drug store has those as summer toys.
