Homicides in SF are +13% YoY, compared to a nat’l average of 13%. (ie, we are exactly average.) Last year was a historic low & the entire nation has gone up during the pandemic. Some cities like Chicago have seen 50% increases. Other cities in the Bay Area have seen bigger jumps.

If Chesa were somehow the cause, which would be surprisingly unlikely, you would expect to see us rising far faster than other Bay Area or national cities—we are not.
