Have you had good games of Nomic? Played one session, and it didn't quite click, which surprised me.

I played the week before last with four of us who are all very metarationality inclined. I think that makes all the difference - we independently discovered the perils of copyright law, a lot about pork-barreling, and about the power of legalese.
-
Also, would be keen to play again, with a set of people with the right interests!
-
I'd be willing to take another shot.
@nayafia?@KevinSimler?@Meaningness? -
I may have imagined this, but didn't we have a convo about how this would be the worst game for me ever?
Anyways yeah I'm down to try! -
Why would it be the worst game for you?
-
I like games where the rules are simple, leaving a large amorphous "play surface", whereas it seems Nomic is about reinventing the rules as you play. (Though I guess the rules *are* simple, depending on how you look at it...)
-
So more like a Minecraft or something?

I would love if people move to Boulder, but I'm like the only one who lives here xD
-
Not true! Also
@dthorson , and a bunch of yoga/buddhism/crypto people... -
Awesome, thanks for the connection. I agree those 3 are all popular in Boulder but where are the Deutschians? Maybe there just needs to be a meetup though and then everyone will come out of the woodwork. It's a great idea.
-
Deutschians as in David Deutsch'sBeginning of Infinity?
-
Yes, and everything else he's written. But yeah infinite games and the idea of a beginning of infinity are close
-
Reading Beginning of Infinity now and appreciating the symmetries with Finite and Infinite Games, etc. He is a wonderful writer.

I'm interested in co-thinking about how to design breathable access membranes, assuming we're talking semi-permeable but not just fully open. Seems like a fascinating puzzle...
-
Yes! Semi-permeable, also ideally with self-regulating progressively more-obfuscated inner sanctums or more private spaces...

We have a book coming out (
@MeeplesTogether) with Kickstarter this month & ebook release early next year on the design of cooperative games, and a sequel in progress on patterns of cooperative play. I’d like to see a nomic of cooperation.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
