Yes very! I was talking to someone from EFF recently about why OSS microtransactions hadn't really taken off, and he mentioned the psychological effect of keeping track of small transactions being a giant hurdle.

I don't know much about their opinion, apart from a kind of world-weary 'we've seen everyone try this stuff before in the 90s' from my friend (personal opinion only). I'll have to find out :)
